An elderly woman sustained life-threatening injuries this morning after being struck by a cab in front of the Ballston Public Parking Garage, 655 N. Glebe Road.
The woman was in the crosswalk, crossing North Carlin Springs Road, at about 9:26 a.m. when she was struck by the cab, Arlington County police spokesman Dustin Sternbeck said.
The woman was taken to Inova Fairfax Hospital with life-threatening injuries, he said. No other information on her was immediately available.
The taxi driver remained on the scene and is cooperating with investigators, Sternbeck said. It's unclear if he will face charges.
"He's literally talking to investigators right now," Sternbeck said.
North Glebe Road at North Carlin Springs was shut down for about 90 minutes. It reopened shortly before 11:30 a.m.

It is comforting to know that at least, this is not a hit-and-run accident. I would have to admit that in fact, the taxi driver's bravery to own up to his mistake is commendable. I wish that the police could lighten his sentence by taking note of his courage to admit to his mistake. Not to forget, I wish a speedy recovery for the victim too.
