Police: Drunken Revelers Attack KegBus Driver

Spokesman: Party bus crew took out aggression on driver after being charged for extra time.

Two Arlington men have been arrested and charged after police say a party bus got a bit too rowdy.

A group of friends rented a KegBus on Saturday to go to the West Virginia-James Madison University football game, Arlington police spokesman Dustin Sternbeck said.

At about 9:20 p.m. Saturday, in the 1900 block of North Sycamore Street, the group was heading home when the driver told them they had used up all of the time they had paid for and would be charged for an extra 90 minutes — news that didn't go over well with the revelers, Sternbeck said.

"The group of drunken guys got a little outraged and took their aggression out on the driver," he said.

According to police, three men assaulted the driver and then ran away.

One of the individuals in the group — the one who had used his credit card to rent the bus — remained on the scene. He was questioned by police, who then located two of the three suspects a short distance away at their Arlington residence, Sternbeck said.

The driver suffered a busted lip, swollen eye and various bumps and bruises, but refused medical treatment, Sternbeck said.

The victim, who Sternbeck said was in his early 20s, was not armed.
