Arlington Economic Development has made available video of the Venture Camp session at George Mason University featuring "The Lean Startup" author Eric Ries.

Ries joined former U.S. Chief Technology Officer Aneesh Chopra, former U.S. Chief Information Officer Vivek Kundra and Bernadette Hyland, CEO of Fredericksburg-based 3 Round Stones for the hour-long discussion earlier this month.

While the theme generally was how to incorporate lean principals into the startup lifestyle, questions from the audience covered a wide range of topics — from challenges and opportunities created by the Washington-area culture to whether and when to take the plunge on a new venture.

"If you have an idea that is burning inside you, you should go for it," Kundra told the crowd. "When you're 80 years old and looking back at your life, you want to focus on regret minimization."

The next Venture Camp starts at 6 p.m. Nov. 1 and features former Circuit City CEO Alan Wurtzal, who will discuss his book "Good to Great to Gone" and lessons learned from operating in a rapidly changing environment.
