Senator Stabbing, Zebra Attack, Bomb Found, Turkey Trots, Health Inspections, Million-Dollar Makeover

State Sen. Creigh Deeds, best known for his failed run for Virginia governor, was stabbed multiple times Tuesday and his son, Gus, died from what police believe was a self-inflicted gunshot wound in the family home in Bath County.

A lot of sorting out is still to be done, but multiple reports say the son was checked recently for psychological problems and released, and police are investigating the incident as an attempted murder-suicide. Read the full story, and more, in our daily digest of news from Virginia and DC.
