2013 Arlington County Fair: Schedule, Parking, Outdoor Events

The Arlington County Fair this year is Aug. 7 to 11 at its longtime home, the Thomas Jefferson Community Center at 3501 Second St. S.

Rides and outdoor activities will operate as follows:

• Wednesday, Aug. 7: 5 to 10 p.m.
• Thursday, Aug. 8: 5 to 10 p.m.
• Friday, Aug. 9: 2 to 11 p.m.
• Saturday, Aug. 10: 10 a.m. to 11 p.m.
• Sunday, Aug 11: 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Indoor hours are different:

• Friday, Aug. 9: 4 to 10 p.m.
• Saturday, Aug. 10: 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.
• Sunday, Aug 11: 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Fair organizers suggest parking at the Ballston Metro, Arlington Career Center or the Interstate 66 parking garage. A $2 roundtrip fee will be charged for shuttle service. Shuttles will run every 30 minutes to and from each location during the fair's operating hours.

This year's outdoor programming brings the return of piglet racing, pony rides and the Harlem Wizards. Also be sure to check out exhibitions by the Arlington Soccer Association, Washington Area Frisbee Club, D.C. United, Arlington Athletic & Social League and Homeward Trails Animal Rescue. The fair also features a scavenger hunt and outdoor movie nights.

A 5K run/walk will be held the morning of Aug. 11.

The fair's opening ceremony will be at 6 p.m. Aug. 8.
