3 Minutes With Your Neighbor: Skye Donovan, Professor with a Wedding-Day Surprise

Spend a few minutes with an Arlington neighbor.

Skye Donovan likes Arlington for a lot of reasons, but two that stand out: It allows her to be a soccer mom and "city girl" all in one place.

We caught up with Donovan and learned at least one thing most of her neighbors don't even know about her — but will when they read this.

What's your morning routine?
Wake up at 6:15; head to Master's Swim team practice, home at 7:30 to make breakfast and get my 2 boys off to school- then head to work!

What do you do for a living? And what's the best thing about your job?
I am a professor of physical therapy, and a practicing physical therapist. The best thing about my job is time spent with students developing their skills in working with patients, it directly helps the students but also effects all of their future patients.

What's the hardest?
Keeping work at work; the students and my patients are always on my mind.

How long have you lived here?
Six years.

What's your favorite thing about living here?
The fact that I own a home with a yard and have two cars, yet I can walk to dozens of hip restaurants and bars. I can be a soccer mom and a city girl all in one place.

If you had to arrange a secret meeting here, where would you have it?
Mile marker 2 on the Custis trail.

Tell us something about yourself that most of your neighbors don't know.
I hired a yellow school bus to drive me to my wedding reception!

When you want a really indulgent snack here, where do you go and what do you get?
Curbside Cupcakes - mobile van Pinky! The red velvet cupcake is the best.

What's the best piece of advice you've ever been given?
Don't make decisions based on fear.

What are you doing after this interview?
Going to read the kids a bedtime story.
