The new Arlington Mill Community Center will get its official welcome-to-the-neighborhood party this weekend.
The $36 million community center, at the corner of Columbia Pike and Dinwiddie Street, is 64,000 square feet and includes a fitness room, full-size gym, outdoor plaza and several multipurpose rooms.
A Capital Bikeshare station has been installed at the site and is ready to use, according to the community center's most recent newsletter.
County officials will hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 5 p.m. Saturday. The event will feature a preview of some of the center's programs, class registration, live music, face painting and more.
Light refreshments will include samples from Pan American Cafe, a locally owned business that will set up its second Arlington location in the community center.
