Buckingham to Hold Community Festival on Sunday

Police will close a portion of Pershing Drive to accommodate the festivities.

The Buckingham Community Festival will be 1 to 6 p.m. Sunday.

To accommodate the festivities, Arlington County police will close North Pershing Drive between North Glebe Road and North Thomas Street from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.

The festival has been a tradition in Buckingham for more than a decade.

Past events have featured live music, games and information booths to help people register to vote and spread the word about affordable housing programs and services in Arlington County.

Last year's festival featured a folkloric Columbian dance group. Two scholarships were awarded thanks to a donation by Sam Chon, owner of Glebe Market.

Scholarships will again be awarded this year, according to the BU-GATA website. BU-GATA is the tenants association for multifamily residences in and around Buckingham.
