Funeral Today for Northern Virginia Woman Killed in Spanish Train Wreck

The Annandale woman who died last month in a train derailment in Spain will be laid to rest Tuesday.
Ana-Maria Cordoba, 47, was the mother of two teenage children and worked in the Catholic Diocese of Arlington’s Human Resources Department. She died in the train crash last month in northwestern Spain that killed 79 people.

“She was both a doer and a prayer, reaching out to the needy, always giving testimony of love and faith,” according to her obituary posted on the Fairfax Memorial Funeral Home’s website, which is handling her funeral services.
Her friends at the Catholic Diocese described Cordoba as a “beautiful person.”

"She was gentle. She was kind. She was prayerful. She was cheerful," Father Tom Ferguson, pastor of Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Alexandria, told Patch last month.
Cordoba’s funeral service is scheduled for 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Annandale. She will be buried at Fairfax Memorial Park.
