Hey, Ice Skaters: Get Ready for 40 Tons of... Sand?
Sand delivered to the Pentagon Row ice rink on Friday as part of expansion.
Forty tons of sand were delivered to the Pentagon Row ice rink on Friday as part of the popular spot's renovation and expansion.
The sand is used as a base foundation to support the new 6,840-square-foot rink, which is on track to open Nov. 15.
The rink will open at noon on weekdays and 10 a.m. on weekends. It's open until 10 p.m. Sundays through Thursdays, and until 11 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays.

Note: Ice rentals may cause the rink to close from 7 to 9 p.m. on Sundays and Thursdays.
