National Weather Service Issues Freeze Warning for Northern Virginia

Freezing temps will hit from 3-9 a.m. Wednesday.

The weather is about to take another twist within the next 24 hours. The National Weather Service has issued a Freeze Warning for Northern Virginia.

The warning goes into effect Wednesday, from 3 a.m. to 9 a.m. You can expect to see temperatures plunging to around 30 degrees overnight into Wednesday morning, according to the NWS. 

The freezing temperatures will kill or damage unprotected cold-sensitive vegetation or crops.

The area is expected to get soaked Tuesday before the freezing temperatures move in. For the rest of Tuesday, the NWS is predicting showers with isolated thunderstorms with highs around 70. Temperatures will start falling into the upper 50s this afternoon. 

Wednesday is expected to be sunny, with highs in the lower 50s.
