Photos: Irish Honor Guard Commemorates 50th Anniversary of Kennedy's Burial
President John F. Kennedy was buried at Arlington National Cemetery on Nov. 25, 1963.
Arlington National Cemetery on Monday hosted a small, quiet remembrance ceremony at the eternal flame that included 10 members of the original honor guard from Ireland at President John F. Kennedy's funeral.
Monday was the 50th anniversary of Kennedy's burial at Arlington National Cemetery.
"A descendant of Ireland had become president of the United States. And, naturally, it was a huge emotional thing to have an Irish man in the White House," said retired Lt. Col. John Dunne afterward.
