Tracking Frank: Fumich Completes Ultra-Marathon to Boston

Arlington's extreme athlete Frank Fumich and running partner Matt Nelson left the Pentagon Tuesday morning and ran to Boston to raise money for Boston Marathon bombing victims.

Arlington resident Frank Fumich made it to Boston Saturday evening with running buddy Matt Nelson of Lake Worth, Fla.

The pair ran from the Pentagon's 9/11 Memorial on Tuesday with the aim of running more than 450 miles combined and ending at the finish line of the Boston Marathon Saturday. They hit the finish line around 1 p.m. Saturday.

They surpassed their fundraising goal of $78,600 along the way and are still accepting donations at standunitedrununited.org.

The money they raised will go to the family of Martin Richard, an 8-year-old boy who was killed in the marathon bombings and whose relatives were injured, and to Jeffrey Bauman, who lost both legs in the bombing and was integral in identifying the Boston marathon bombing suspects.

Bauman, still in a wheelchair recovering from amputation surgery, met Fumich and Nelson at the finish line. (See a photo via @xlizblizz here.)
