Virginia Tech Names Raman Associate VP for National Capital Region

Raman is based out of the Virginia Tech Research Center — Arlington on North Glebe Road.

Virginia Tech this month announced one more mind to meet in Ballston.

The school announced that Sanjay Raman, a professor of electrical and computer engineering, has been named university's associate vice president for the National Capital Region.

Raman is based out of the Virginia Tech Research Center — Arlington on North Glebe Road.

Raman's job will be to plan and execute regional initiatives that further the university's research, education, and outreach missions, according to a news release. He also will lead the team responsible for enhancing collaboration between the university's various arms in the greater Washington area.

Raman joined the Virginia Tech faculty in 1998.

He worked two multiple-year assignments to the Microsystems Technology Office of the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency, or DARPA, where he led major research programs on microsystem devices, heterogeneous integration, and integrated circuit design and manufacturing, the news release states.
