Volunteers Needed: 2013 Arlington County Fair

This year's county fair is Aug. 7 to 11.

The 2013 Arlington County Fair is looking for a few good volunteers.

The fair, billed by organizers as "one of the largest free events on the East Coast," this year is Aug. 7 to 11.

Volunteers are needed for everything from working the information desk to helping out with recycling to assisting with competitive exhibits, according to an email fair organizers sent out this week.

“Fair volunteers provide a great service to the fair. Our team spends a full year planning and preparing, but would not be able to carry out our efforts without the vital volunteers that join us during the week,” Arlington County Fair Chairwoman Tiffany Kudravetz said in a statement.

Fair attendance in recent years has surpassed 50,000 people. Now in its 37th year, the fair will continue to be held at the Thomas Jefferson Community Center on Second Street South.

Anyone interested in volunteering should sign up by July 31 and attend an orientation to be considered. Volunteers of all ages are welcome, though a parent or guardian needs to be with anyone 16 and younger.
