Weekend Guide: Walk for the Animals, Donna the Buffalo, Plant Sale and More

The weekend is here! How are you going to spend it in Arlington and beyond?

When/Where: 8:30 to 11 a.m. Saturday at Bluemont Park (rain or shine)

Why Go: It's the Animal Welfare League of Arlington's biggest fundraiser. Join hundreds of animal enthusiasts for a three-mile walk or one-mile stroll through the park followed by a Fido-friendly festival. Show your love for your four-legged friend while helping homeless animals. This is one of several events planned for Arlington's Neighborhood Day celebration. Click here to see more.

Price: Pre-register now for $25 or register event day for $40. All pre-registered walkers receive a Walk T-shirt and dogs receive a free bandana.

2. Donna the Buffalo at The State Theatre

When/Where: 7 p.m. Saturday at The State Theatre in Falls Church

Why Go: From folk rock to reggae to bluegrass, Donna the Buffalo is touring in advance of its 10th studio release, "Today, Tomorrow and Yesterday." Worth seeing live.

When/Where: 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at Quincy Park, 1201 N. Quincy St., Arlington

Why Go: Just in time for Mother's Day! Pick up a beautiful hanging basket and maybe some herbs and vegatables for yourself at the Washington-Lee High School PTA's largest fundraiser.

4. 2013 Georgetown Garden Tour

When/Where: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, start at Christ Church, 31st and O Streets NW in Washington.

Why Go: Celebrating its 85th year, the Georgetown Garden Tour is a Georgetown tradition. Thanks to the Georgetown Garden Club, visitors have the chance to explore Georgetown's private gardens and hidden landscapes.

Price: $35

When/Where: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at participating embassies. The Royal Netherlands Embassy is located at 4200 Linnean Ave. NW in Washington.

Why Go: Participating EU countries open their embassies or residences for guests to explore and learn more about each country's unique culture. For the first time, the Royal Netherlands Embassy will open its doors; previously only the residence of the Dutch Ambassador was open to the public.
