Lucy's Local Playlist Submission-- EXTENDED DEADLINE

BOWEN MCCAULEY DANCE CREATES CONTEST FOR “LUCY’s LOCAL PLAYLIST”

Arlington, VA—November 29, 2011— One of Washington D.C.'s most versatile choreographers, Lucy Bowen McCauley, is calling upon local bands to submit their music for consideration to be included in her dance company’s 2012 performance schedule. Original choreography will be set to the selected songs for “Lucy’s Local Playlist,” which will premiere May 11-12, 2012 at Synetic Theater in Arlington, Virginia. The chosen songs will remain part of the Bowen McCauley Dance (BMD) repertoire.

The inspiration for “Lucy’s Local Playlist” comes from “Lucy’s Playlist”-- a BMD audience favorite, based on 12 popular songs on Lucy Bowen McCauley’s own Ipod. “This contest is a way to raise the visibility of and collaborate with other artists in the community,” Bowen McCauley says. “We have a commitment to living composers and developing relationships through the process of creating something new.”

Tone, a Washington, DC musical group, collaborated with BMD from the fall of 2004 through the spring of 2006. Their partnership culminated in performances at The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, DC, and a festival appearance in Aachen, Germany. “Performing our material live for BMD has enabled the ensemble to reach, connect, and convert an audience we always believed our work would resonate with. BMD provided a number of fantastic forums for presentation, both here in The District, and abroad," said Norm Veenstra of Tone.
