Potomac Yard Harris Teeter to Reopen Oct. 23

Store has been closed since May 2012.

The long-awaited grand opening of the Potomac Yard Harris Teeter will be at 8 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 23, a company spokeswoman confirmed to Patch on Friday.

The store, at 3600 S. Glebe Road in Arlington, has been closed since May 2012 following an interior flood caused by a sewage backup.

The lack of a grocery store caused nearby residents to grow restless; they asked the Arlington County Board to take "any and all actions necessary" to fast-track the store's reopening.

Elected officials and county executives pledged to do so, and Harris Teeter announced a fall 2013 reopening two days later.

Forty-four jobs are posted at http://harristeeter.jobs for the Potomac Yard store.
