Ray's Hell Burger Restaurants Close in Rosslyn

The Ray's Hell locations were closed Wednesday.

The Ray's Hell Burger and Ray’s Hell Burger Too locations in Rosslyn have closed — and the landlord who owns the properties alleges the owner owes about $70,000 in rent.

A sign posted on the front doors at 1725 Wilson Blvd. and a few doors down at 1713 Wilson Blvd. indicate the landlord has changed the locks.

“Do not unlock this door under penalty of damages,” a sign states.

Another sign directed customers to Ray’s to the Third, an affiliated restaurant, across the street.

Last week, attorneys for Colonial Village Shopping Center, where the restaurants are located, filed two unlawful detainers against the limited liability companies that restauranteur Michael Landrum uses to operate Ray's Hell Burger and Ray's Hell Burger Too.

Court documents indicate Landrum owes about $31,000 in rent for Ray's Hell Burger and about $39,000 for Ray's Hell Burger Too.

Charles Thomas, an attorney with Bean Kinney & Korman, the Courthouse-based law firm that represents the shopping center, said he could not comment on ongoing litigation.

"The reason why the unlawful detainers were filed was because Mr. Landrum closed his business a couple of weeks ago and did not pay January's rent," Thomas told Patch on Wednesday. "And the landlord took possession of the property yesterday."

The case involves "other matters" that will come out in court, Thomas said.

Colonial Village filed the papers Jan. 9 in Arlington County General District Court. They were served Monday.

A hearing has been set for 2 p.m. Feb. 8.

A message left with managers at Ray’s to the Third was not immediately returned.
