Tray of lasagna and containers of tuna salad prepared and held in the food establishment for more than 24 hours are not clearly marked to indicate the date or day by which the food shall be consumed on the premises, sold or discarded.

Proper pest control methods are not used to minimize the presence of insects, rodents and other pests found in the establishment. German cockroach observed in the door gasket of the refrigerator in the kitchen; dead cockroach observed on a can of food downstairs; mouse dropping observed on can of food downstairs; dead roach observed on a bag of flour; live German cockroaches and fruit flies observed in the downstairs kitchen walls and floors; mouse droppings observed on the floor downstairs; dead roach on ice machine; dead roaches on the counter with large cutting boards downstairs.

Proper pest control methods are not used to minimize the presence of insects, rodents and other pests found in the establishment. Live German cockroaches were observed on the cook's counter by the slicer, on the floor by the soup kettle, on the bread rack/bag downstairs, and on the wall of the bakery by the three-part sink. Roach droppings were also observed on the bakery ceiling. Dead roaches were observed in the ice where the fruit salad is kept, downstairs on the floor and grease interceptor of the bakery, and along the vent on the floor downstairs.

Oriental Gourmet Restaurant

The handwashing sink located close to warewashing machine was blocked by a cart and is not maintained so that it is accessible at all times for employee use.

According to the Virginia Department of Health's website:

"Ideally, an operation would have no critical violations, or none which are not corrected immediately and not repeated. In our experience, it is unrealistic to expect that a complex, full-service food operation can routinely avoid any violations.

"Keep in mind that any inspection report is a 'snapshot' of the day and time of the inspection. On any given day, a restaurant could have fewer or more violations than noted in the report. An inspection conducted on any given day may not be representative of the overall, long term cleanliness of an establishment."
