Restaurant Week Kicks Off at the Village at Shirlington

Sixteen restaurants are participating this year.

The second annual Restaurant Week at the Village at Shirlington kicked off Monday featuring specials at 16 bakeries, cafes and other eateries.

The Village at Shirlington has the menus for all participating restaurants collected here. Restaurant Week lasts through Sunday.

"We're participating to support the neighborhood. Shirlington is just great for promoting neighborhood friendliness," said Andrea Rivera, front of house manager of Cheesetique, which opened in December.

"And obviously we want to generate more business, to get more people in the door and learn what we're all about."

Participating restaurants are offering two-course lunches for $12 and three-course dinners for $25. The lunch prices are slightly lower than last year, said Jill Powell, a spokeswoman for the Village at Shirlington.

"We just want to be a part of the village, so we try to participate in just about anything they have. We're not doing anything special beyond our regular menu, but we're packaging it together," said Daniel Lockhart, general manager of the Shirlington location
