We, the Pizza Coming to Crystal City in 2014

Mendelsohn family plans to open second pizza restaurant near Good Stuff Eatery.

More Good Stuff is coming to Crystal City.

The Mendelsohn family — former "Top Chef" contestant Spike, his sister Micheline and parents Cathy and Harvey — plans to open a new We, the Pizza restaurant at 2100 Crystal Drive. The space formerly housed a Caribou Coffee and is two doors down from the family's Good Stuff Eatery.

"It's a great neighborhood, and they knew they wanted to bring another one of their restaurants into the community," said Jordyn Lazar, marketing manager at Good Stuff. "They've been working with Vorando for some time, and when the space became available, they jumped at the chance."

The family just signed a lease, so not many details about the new restaurant have been finalized. They're looking to open We, the Pizza sometime in 2014.

The restaurant specializes in pizza by the slice and whole pies, with classics like cheese and pepperoni and more adventurous offerings like Colletti's Notorious BBQ Pie — a pizza topped with pulled pork, barbecue sauce, crispy onions and cheddar.

The menu also has salads, wings and sodas with syrups and fruit purees made in-house.

The Mendelsohn family opened its first Good Stuff Eatery on Capitol Hill in 2008 and has since added locations in Crystal City and Georgetown. The franchise is expanding into Philadelphia and Chicago, Lazar said.

The sole We, the Pizza is located at 305 Pennsylvania Ave. SE in Washington. The family would love to grow the brand, but for the time being will focus its energy on the new Crystal City location, Lazar said.

Good Stuff's Arlington location draws customers from around the region, not just Crystal City, she said. We, the Pizza is expected to do the same.

"It's going to become a destination for a lot of people in Northern Virginia," Lazar told Patch. "It's great pizza, and we're doing it our own way."

The Mendelsohn family also owns a French bistro, Bearnaise, in the district.
