1,800 Gallons of Sewage: Water Advisory for Four Mile Run Following Spill

Residents are advised to avoid Four Mile Run until Wednesday.

A water advisory remains in effect until Wednesday for Four Mile Run between Columbia Pike and the Arlington County line following a major sewage spill.

Arlington County officials reported a car collided with a Don’s Johns sewage truck Sunday on Arlington Boulevard near Fillmore Street.

Five people went to the hospital with minor injuries, according to the Associated Press. The crash caused the sewage truck to spill its entire 1,800-gallon load.

Hazardous materials teams worked alongside the Arlington County Department of Environmental Services much of Sunday to try to protect the waterways, according to WTOP.
