Showers and thunderstorms are likely until 10 p.m. Thursday, according to the National Weather Service.

A tornado watch is in effect for Arlington, Fairfax and Loudoun counties, along with the cities of Alexandria and Fairfax, until 10 p.m. Thursday. Washington, Baltimore and several counties in north and central Maryland are also included.

A watch means conditions exist that could produce a tornado.

Thunderstorms are "likely" in Arlington until 10 p.m., with a 60 percent chance of precipitation, according to the weather service.

Arlington will see a chance of showers and thunderstorms throughout the weekend. Friday is forecast to be partly sunny; Saturday, mostly sunny.
