Bachelor, Bachelorette Dates to be Auctioned at Arlington Young Democrats' Event

Did you miss your opportunity to meet Juan Pablo on "The Bachelor"? There's still a way for you to find someone new and help a good cause.

The Arlington Young Democrats will host their 13th Annual Charity Date Auction on Wednesday, March 19, at Clarendon Grill.

For the first time in its history, the event will feature a straw poll of the 8th congressional District candidates, with many of the leading congressional contenders expected to attend. The event begins Wednesday, March 19 at 7 p.m., with a live "date auction" featuring local bachelors and bachelorettes, beginning at 7:30 p.m.

Tina Montgomery, 2012 Ms. D.C. United States, will reprise her role as the evening’s host/emcee. She will be joined by special guest 2013 Miss United States Candiace Dillard.

AYD will also be joined by former presidential contender Rep. Dennis Kucinich and his wife, Elizabeth Kucinich. Elizabeth Kucinich, who has long been active with animal welfare charities, will serve as a celebrity auctioneer.

In addition to a live auction and straw poll, the 2014 Date Auction will include the largest silent auction in AYD history. Featured silent auction items include:

• A custom chef’s menu for two with wine pairing from Oyamel Head Chef Colin King

Donations from the date auction will benefit the Animal Welfare League of Arlington, a 501(c)3 organization whose mission is to improve the lives of animals by creating a world where all companion animals find compassionate and permanent homes.

Clarendon Grill is located at 1101 N Highland St at the cross street of 11th St. and N. Highland St., just off the Clarendon Metro stop on the Orange Line.
