Watch Virginia Governor Candidates Debate Live Thursday Night from Blacksburg

Debate begins at 7 p.m.

Less than two weeks before Election Day, Democratic candidate Terry McAuliffe and Republican candidate Ken Cuccinelli will meet for a final debate Thursday night in Blacksburg at Virginia Tech University.

Northern Virginians can tune in and watch the debate live at 7 p.m. on NewsChannel 8, an ABC affiliate. It will also be streamed online here.

Virginia Tech and WDBJ7-TV will host the last Virginia gubernatorial debate between McAuliffe, former head of the DNC, and Cuccinelli, attorney general of Virginia, in Virginia Tech's Haymarket Theater at Squires Student Center on campus.

WDBJ7 news anchor Jean Jadhon will moderate the one-hour event. WDBJ7 political analysts Bob Denton, the W. Thomas Rice Chair and professor of communication at Virginia Tech, and Roanoke College professor Harry Wilson will be the panelists presenting questions to the candidates.

WDBJ7 news anchor Chris Hurst will contribute questions from an online audience.

Libertarian Robert Sarvis will not be participating. He had hoped to debate but did not meet a threshold proposed by the organizers.

Given the venue, political analysts expect gun violence to come up, along with issues related to the coal industry.
