Lego Robotics/Technology/American Girl Camps

Renaissance STEM and American Girl Camps in 2014

Lego Action Jrs.

This camp is

for the younger LEGO fan that is just getting into LEGO. Jrs will learn basic building techniques, play building oriented games, and create from their own  imagination. Projects like building racecars, animals, mosaics are few of the things the children will work on.
Action Lego’s puts fun in motion as students learn how to use gears, motors, potential energy, and balance to create numerous contraptions. Through the excitement of building, our summer camp students understand how gears translate motion and how different types of energy can propel

vehicles and machines. After each building project, summer camp kids

customize, share, and enjoy playing with their creations.
Kids have many opportunities free

building, playing Lego games creating their own amazing projects.

Learn Robotics and Programming

LEGO WE-DO

Builders begin programming models and develop technology, engineering and math skills on computers.

Education WeDo™ Robotics

For campers who love to build and then take their models

to the next level. New from Lego Education and Renaissance. Our future

engineers work on Lego robotics kits. Each builder has his or her own kit!

Interactive building and programming models is the newest educational frontier for kids that love building. Kids build a series

of models such as an alligator, lion, helicopter, soccer player and more. Builders

work together to build and program their model to move and make sounds.

LEGO We-Do Robot

Construction

The LEGO® Education WeDo introduces young students to robotics when combined with the LEGO Education WeDo Software v.1.2 and various Activity Packs. Students will be able to build LEGO models featuring working motors

and sensors; program their models; and explore a series of cross-curricular,

theme engineering, and mathematics as well as language, literacy, and social

studies.
 Soon, builders move and program

their own models and develop scenes for their models. You have to see it to

believe it! Fun and learning that will build skills for now and for the

future in every child.

We have the hundreds of sets and all the Lego games too!

From Star Wars to Super Heroes sets and the new Ninja and Chima sets, builders will be able to explore and build with friends.

Our Lego Robotics software program was

developed by MIT and Carnegie Mellon University.

Computer “Scratch”  Programming Camp Plus Lego Robotics for Students

Renaissance  is excited to provide an exciting, hands-on experience to teach students the basics of computer programming. The camp is available for rising 2nd

graders-rising 6th graders. Students create their own games, learning modules, animations or interactivities using a programming language developed by the M.I.T. Media Lab.

Beginning Scratch PLUS Lego’s:
Fun With Programming

Do you have a camper who is passionate about technology? Has your camper always loved building and working with Lego’s?

Now, your camper can experience the best of both worlds in a new camp. In  this class, campers will build with Lego’s but also learn how to use the program Scratch to make characters called Sprites dance, walk, talk, and   interact with other Sprites on laptops. Scratch makes it easy for students  to become a program designer and write top-notch programs that feature

animations, stories and simulations. It's the easiest most exciting way to  become a 21st century programmer! This is a
weeklong camp combined with Lego building, which uses both a fun programming and building environment.

Campers

use Scratch to make animations and games. No prior experience is necessary.

This camp is available either half day or full day. A snack is provided.

Outside time is also part of the day!

Elementary

 Advanced Scratch/Lego:

A weeklong camp for campers who have previous Scratch experience.  More advanced programming topics are covered.

American Girl Creative Camps

"Follow your inner star" as you learn about yourself and the historical American Girl characters. Each day, campers

will learn about a new American Girl character and experience a day in her  life. Together, we'll design art and jewelry, paint, design fashion and

work the runway, celebrate the character's beloved holidays and traditions, and enjoy some of the American Girls' favorite activities like dancing, singing, sewing, writing and much more. Girls will develop a portfolio over the week that depicts their vision of what it means to be an American Girl today.
