“Surprises,” a solo exhibit of sculptures by Pamela Soldwedel and photographs by Richard D. Barrett

Opening Reception Friday January 10, 5-8 pm - Free

This month, Gallery Underground features the works of husband
and wife team sculptor Pamela Soldwedel and photographer Richard D. Barrett in
our Special Exhibition Space. In stone, bronze and mixed media, Soldwedel
expresses the passion, mystery and ambiguity central to the human experience in
an astonishing new manner. Many works display undulating swirling organic
forms, while others display breaks, symbolizing growth and emotional or
physical trauma.

Initially inspired by his father’s admiration for a
well-composed photograph, Richard Barrett has been taking photographs all his
life. In many of his photos he selects part of a scene and focuses on the
patterns he sees, or the angles or light and shadows, which re-focuses the eye.
Whether his photos appear realistic or abstract, they all focus on specific
features of light, rhythm or pattern to capture their essence.
