2013-2014 MEMBERSHIP DRIVE UNDERWAY

The Friends of the Planetarium has launched its 2013-2014 membership drive!  Past membership donations have saved the Planetarium from extinction, and are needed to continue the preservation of Arlington’s grassroots, community-supported source of all things science.

We offer several levels of membership to suit all needs.  Membership dues allow the purchase of new digital programming for community shows, sponsor planetarium training sessions for Arlington Public School (APS) teachers, assist with upgrades to the Planetarium facility, and support the David M. Brown scholarship for APS students.

The membership year has been set to coincide with the academic school year calendar. The Friends’ membership drive kicks off in September of each year, and the membership period runs from October 1 to September 30 of the following year.

Members receive several benefits, including reduced admission fees for Friends-sponsored events, and 100% tax deduction of membership dues. For more details, please visit http://friendsoftheplanetarium.org/become-a-friend/, and scroll down to the bottom of the page.  Anyone can become a member by using a PayPal account or a major credit card.

ABOUT FRIENDS OF THE PLANETARIUM

Founded in 2010 to save the Planetarium from being closed, Friends of Arlington's David M. Brown Planetarium is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that continues to raise funds to make the Planetarium even better. In addition to showcasing the Planetarium as an important center of science education for Arlington and the surrounding community, our major goals are to build a library of spectacular digital programs, to support Arlington Public Schools in providing enhanced teacher training opportunities, and to fund a scholarship to encourage Arlington students to study STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) subjects in college. The Friends of Arlington’s David M. Brown Planetarium has an all-volunteer Board of Directors and Advisory Council.
