Thanksgiving 2013: What's Open, What's Closed in Arlington

Local government offices, community centers closed on Thanksgiving. Some services resume Friday.

Arlington County offices — including courts, human services and libraries — will be closed Thursday, Nov. 28, and Friday, Nov. 29, for Thanksgiving day and the holiday weekend. Courts will close at noon Wednesday.

DMV Select is closed Thursday and Friday, too.

All community centers will be closed on Thanksgiving day. Arlington Mill Community Center will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday, and Walter Reed Community Center will be open from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. that day; all other community centers will be closed Friday. The Thomas Jefferson Community Center will be closed through Sunday, Dec. 1.

Arlington Public Schools will be closed Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Administrative offices are open Wednesday.

ART Routes 41 and 51 will run on a Sunday schedule on Thanksgiving day. ART will run a Saturday schedule for Routes 41, 42, 51, 77 and 87 on Friday; all other buses will not operate. Click here to see the ART bus holiday schedule.

Parking meters will not be enforced Thursday or Friday.

Trash, recycling and special collection — brush, metal and electronics — will operate under a normal schedule.

There will be no Virginia Railway Express (VRE) service Thanksgiving. VRE will operate on a "S" Schedule Friday, Nov. 29. Only trains with a "S" above the train number on the schedule will operate. Normal schedules will resume on Monday, Dec. 2.

All U.S. Post Offices will be closed on Thursday.

All Virginia ABC stores will be closed Thursday, but will reopen Friday with Black Friday specials.
