Recycle Your Christmas Tree

Recycled trees will be ground into mulch for garden use.

Arlington County is making it easy for residents to recycle their Christmas trees this season.

Until January 17, Christmas trees should be placed at the curb on your regular trash day (no later than 6 am). Be sure to remove all lights, decorations and stands from the tree, otherwise they can not be ground into mulch.

After January 17, holiday trees will not be recycled, but will be collected as trash on your regular trash collection day.

If you live in a townhouse, apartment, or condominium and don't have curbside recycling service you can bring your Christmas trees to the Solid Waste Bureau (4300 S. 29th St.) during the Christmas tree collection season. Call 703.228.6570 to schedule an appointment.
