Northern Virginia Obituaries: Cooney, Ward-O'Hara, Daniels, Hitch

The following are excerpts from the obituaries of Northern Virginia residents who have recently died. The information is from area funeral homes.

From Murphy Funeral Homes:

Thomas V. Cooney, 92, of McLean, died Nov. 2. A funeral was held Thursday in McLean. Cooney was interred at Oakwood Cemetery in Falls Church.

Virginia Anne Ward-O'Hara, 64, of Arlington, died on Nov. 4 at Virginia Hospital Center after a prolonged illness. A memorial Mass will be held at St. James Catholic Church in Falls Church at 2 p.m. on Nov. 23, which would have been her 65th birthday. A memorial gathering will follow the Mass. Burial will take place at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.

From Fairfax Memorial Funeral Home

Gerald R. Daniels, 81, of Fairfax, died Sunday. Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Nov. 23 at Burke Presbyterian Church in Burke.

Kenneth Sinclair Hitch of Clifton died Nov. 3.

Robert White of Alexandria, 86, died Oct. 31.

Constance Nielson Vihstadt, 91, of Burke, died Nov. 2.

Marian Adebakin, 88, of Herndon, died Nov. 7.

Demaine Funeral Home

William Benson, 90, of Springfield, died Nov. 5. Services are at 1 p.m. on Saturday at Greenspring Chapel in Springfield.

Sandra Louise Stock, 75, of Springfield, died Nov. 5. Services are at 11 am. Saturday at First Trinity Lutheran Church in Washington, D.C.

Florence D. Miller, 96, died Nov. 5.

Gustavo A.  Davila, 60, died Tuesday. Visitation is 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday and 10 to 11 a.m. Monday at Demaine Funeral Home. The funeral home is also the site of the funeral, planned for 11 a.m. on Monday.
