Arlington Man Loses Part of Ear in Fight

Police: Victim did not provide many details.

An Arlington man lost part of his ear in a fight over the holiday weekend, according to information police released Wednesday.

The fight happened at about 2 p.m. Friday at a residence in the 3600 block of 3rd Street South in the Alcova Heights community.

The man was intoxicated, apparently involved in a fight with "a large group" of people at the home, when his right ear was severed, police spokesman Dustin Sternbeck told Patch.

"It wasn't severed completely off," he said. "The upper part of the right ear was separated from his head."

The man had his sister take him to the hospital, and someone else at the residence called police to meet him there.

The victim "was extremely intoxicated and very uncooperative with police" during the subsequent interview, Sternbeck said.

"He was very reluctant to provide any details of what happened," he said.

Officers then went to the residence, and only one person was there. That person told police that he heard what sounded like "a large group" fighting but didn't see anything, Sternbeck said.

Sternbeck didn't know if the portion of the man's ear could be reattached.
