Arlington Police Announce National Night Out Events

Neighborhood groups across the country will participate in the event's 30th annual celebration against crime on Tuesday.

Tuesday is America's Night Out Against Crime — and Arlington police and community leaders will be at several events around the county to take part in the celebrations.

Traditionally billed as taking a stand against crime in the community, the night has taken to become synonymous with neighborhood gatherings and ice cream socials. They give police officers, principals, even elected officials a chance to meet with small groups of people in a neighborhood — which can give peace of mind to adults and create lasting relationships with children.

It's also designed to raise crime awareness, strengthen neighborhood partnerships and enhance community relationships with police, according to a news release.
