Crime Report: Purse Snatching, Car Burglaries

The following information was reported by the Arlington County Police Department through Wednesday.

The following incidents were reported Wednesday by the Arlington County Police Department:

A woman walking home from the Ballston Metro Station had her purse snatched just before 10 p.m. Tuesday, according to police. The woman told police that she briefly chased the man before losing track of him. The robber was heavy set, approximately 5 feet, 8 inches tall, and bald.
Attempted Armed Robbery
A sales clerk at Nordstrom’s jewelry department was held at gunpoint, according to police. The robber entered the store at 1400 S. Hayes St. at about 10 a.m. Friday. When the man pulled out a gun, the victim hit a panic alarm and the suspect fled without taking any merchandise. The man was described as approximately 6 feet tall and 230 pounds.
A flat-screen television and at least 10 pairs of shoes were reported stolen after someone broke into a business through a backdoor. The burglary occurred sometime between 7:30 p.m. Monday and 10:10 a.m. Tuesday in the 3800 block of North Wilson Boulevard, according to police.  
An iPod docking station was stolen from a victim’s residence sometime between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. Monday in the 1000 block of North Arlington Boulevard, according to police.
Someone entered a residence in the 500 block of South 26th Street and took a laptop, watch and cash sometime between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday.
Two laptops were stolen when an unknown suspect broke into an office suite sometime between 6 p.m. Friday and 8:30 a.m. Monday in the 1600 block of Fort Myer Drive, according to police.
Commercial Burglary
A burglar gained access through the ceiling to an audio/visual department at a hotel. A video projector was taken, according to police. The incident occurred sometime between 6:30 p.m on Sept. 26 and 7 a.m. on Sept. 27 in the 2300 block of South Jefferson Davis Highway.
Larceny from an Auto
Numerous items were taken from cars parked in a condo building parking garage in the 1000 block of North Highland Street sometime between 11:30 p.m. and 8:15 a.m. on Oct. 10, according to police.
