Crime Roundup: Man Followed Off Bus and Robbed, Locksmith Almost Helps Burglar and More

ARMED ROBBERY, 131228034, 3600 block of S. 5th Street. At 12:17 pm on December 28, a 24 year-old victim was followed by two men off a Metrobus and assaulted prior to having his wallet and cell phone stolen. The suspects fled the scene on foot. Suspect one is described as a male in his early twenties, approximately 6 foot tall with a slender build. He was wearing a black Helly Hansen jacket, black skullcap, jeans and Nike boots. Suspect two is described as a male in his twenties, approximately 6’2” tall with long dreadlocks. He was wearing a gray beanie, long black pea coat and tan Timberland boots.
MALICIOUS WOUNDING, 131227014, 2900 block of S. Glebe Road. At 6:20 am on December 27, a suspect entered his ex-wife’s apartment bedroom and stabbed her boyfriend in his left side. The suspect fled the scene and the victim was driven to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. David Argueta, 32, of Arlington, VA was arrested and charged with malicious wounding. He was held without bond.

ASSAULT BY MOB, 131228053, 1100 block of S. Hayes Street. At 6:56 pm on December 28, a 34 year-old victim was assaulted by two subjects after she confronted them for cutting ahead of her in a checkout line in Victoria Secret. Suspect one is described as a female in her twenties, approximately 5’7” tall and 200 lbs. She was wearing pink pants and a white shirt at the time of the incident. Suspect two is described as a female in her twenties, approximately 5’6” tall and 120 lbs. She was wearing blue jeans and a white sweater.
ABDUCTION, 131229015, 1400 block of N. Taft Street. Between 4 and 5:45 am on December 29, an intoxicated subject continuously assaulted a 22 year-old female victim. A neighbor was able to provide assistance and called police. Ryan Keller, 24, of Gaffney, SC was arrested and charged with abduction with intent to defile, felony strangulation, use of a firearm in commission of a felony, sexual battery, assault and battery and unlawfully obstructing messages to law enforcement. He was held without bond.

PEEPING TOM, 131226018, unit block of S. Glebe Road. At 1:24 pm on December 26, a 24 year-old female victim reported a suspect attempted to film her with his phone as she was changing in the dressing room. The suspect fled the scene when the victim notified a store employee. The suspect is described as a male in his 30’s, approximately 5’10” tall and 190 lbs with a goatee. He was wearing a dark and light blue sweater, jeans and brown shoes at the time of the incident.
CHILD NEGLECT, 131227056, 500 block of S. 23rd Street. At 3:37 pm on December 27, a subject left his ten-year old son and one-year old daughter in his vehicle in a parking lot to gamble on a horse racing video game inside the bar. James Bentley, 46, of Arlington, VA was arrested and charged with child endangerment. He was held on a secured bond.
BURGLARY, 131226009, 2000 block of N. 14th Street. Between 4 pm on December 24 and 6:45 am on December 26, an unknown suspect(s) stolen copper wire from a construction site. There is no suspect(s) description.
BURGLARY, 131227010, 3300 block of S. 5th Street. At 2:02 am on December 27, a locksmith notified police of an attempted burglary at a residence he had unlocked for a suspect. The suspect fled the scene on foot and is described as a male, between 25-30 years old, approximately 5’8” tall and 170 lbs. He was wearing a black coat, dark pants and grey “DC” shoes. The suspect also had a tattoo from his elbow to wrist on his right arm.
