Crime Roundup: Three Sex Crimes in One Week

Crimes reported by the Arlington County Police Department on Sept. 26 through Oct. 2.

The following information was provided by the Arlington County Police Department. Where an arrest is mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction. Some suspect descriptions have been edited to conform to Patch's ethical standards. Links added by Patch.

ASSAULT & BATTERY09/25/13, 2300 block of S. Walter Reed Drive. At 4:59 pm on September 25, two subjects got into a verbal altercation while driving in the 2300 block of S. Walter Reed Drive. One subject allegedly exited his vehicle and assaulted the other. Mohsan Shafqat, unknown age, of Arlington, VA was arrested and charged with assault and battery.

INDECENT EXPOSURE, 09/30/13, 1200 block of S. Hayes Street. Between 2:00 pm and 3:00 pm on October 1, a male subject was observed by a employee masturbating in the shoe section of a retail store. The subject is described as a male in his late 30s, approximately 5 feet 8 inches and weighing 150 pounds. The subject has short black hair and was wearing a black and red jacket with the word ‘Coogi’ on the back in red writing and red sneakers at the time of the incident.

EXPOSURE, 09/29/13, 3100 block of N. 17th Street. On September 29 at 12:13 pm, a victim reported that a male subject standing on the sidewalk exposed himself to her as she was parking her vehicle. The subject is described as a male, 5’9” tall, and approximately 140 pounds. The subject was wearing a red sweater and dark blue sweatpants at the time of the incident.

OBSCENE SEXUAL DISPLAY, 09/27/13, 2600 block of S. Arlington Mill Drive. On September 27 at 3pm, a victim reported a male subject masturbating in a vehicle, while looking at females who were walking past. The subject is a heavyset black male. The vehicle was described as a blue Toyota minivan with Maryland plates.

BURGLARY, 09/26/13, 1000 block of N. Liberty Street. Between 8:30 am and 2:15 pm, an unknown subject(s) entered a residence and stole prescription medication. There is no suspect(s) description.

BURGLARY, 10/01/13, 3400 block of S. 9th Street. Between 3:00 pm on September 28 and 12:33 pm on October 1, an unknown suspect(s) entered a residence and stole a small amount of cash. There is no suspect(s) description.

BURGLARY, 10/01/13, 1100 block of Arlington Boulevard. On October 1 at 12:15 pm, a victim reported that an unknown man was in her apartment upon her return home. The victim found that the suspect had stolen her debit card and cash. The suspect is described as a white male with black hair, 5’10” tall and approximately 180-200 pounds.

BURGLARY, 10/01/13, 3100 block of Lee Highway. On October 1 at 9:47 am, a store owner reported that someone had thrown a rock through the glass door of his store and stole cash. There is no suspect(s) description.
