Former Arlington Tax Assessor Pleads Guilt in Bribery Case

Bribes allowed fees on exports to go unpaid.

A former supervising tax assessor in the Arlington County government has pleaded guilty to receiving bribes in connection with enabling a vehicle exporter to avoid paying Virginia about $25,000 in fees, federal prosecutors said.

Francisco Samayoa Hernandez, 33, of Silver Spring , admitted Tuesday in federal court in Alexandria that he received $11,000 for providing titles and falsifying paperwork that let the exporter escape taxes on Lamborghini and other expensive cars, The Washington Post reported.
