Good Samaritans Aid Woman During Assault, Robbery in Lyon Park

Arlington police say the two attackers — one adult, one teenager — remain on the loose.

An Arlington woman walking home in Lyon Park this week was assaulted by two strangers who got away with her purse and cellphone.

The woman was walking alone in the 2600 block of North Washington Boulevard at about 11:10 p.m. Thursday when she heard the men running up behind her, according to police.

She turned around and the pair — one adult and one teenager — knocked her to the ground. They took her belongings and kicked her several times, and then ran away when two good Samaritans came to her aid, police spokesman Dustin Sternbeck told Patch.

"Their concern was for the welfare of the lady and not necessarily to engage in any kind of physical confrontation with the attackers," Sternbeck said.

The good Samaritans gave the woman a ride to her home, which was a short distance away. There, she called police. She had minor injuries and refused medical treatment, Sternbeck said.
