Grinch Takes Christmas Gifts and More in This Week's Crime Report

The following information was supplied by the Arlington County Police Department.

Burglary

A Grinch took two shopping bags of Christmas gifts from a closet inside of an apartment sometime between 5 p.m. on Nov. 19 and 11 a.m. Monday, according to police. The apartment is in the 900 block of North Stafford Street.

Destruction of property

Someone keyed the passenger side of 12 cars parked in the 3000 block of South Glebe Road, according to police. The incident happened sometime between 8:30 and 9 p.m. on Nov. 19.

Arson

A boy piled leaves on the front steps of a home and set the leaves on fire, according to police. The incident occurred at 2:35 p.m. Saturday in the 4600 block of South 34th Street. The juvenile was released to his father, police report.

Robbery

A man had his wallet stolen in the breezeway behind Ballston Common Mall just after 6 p.m. on Nov. 21, according to police. The robber, who wore dark clothing and a scarf over his face, was described as approximately 35 years old, 5 feet, 9 inches tall, and 150 pounds.

A man is accused of stealing several boxes of soap from a pharmacy. Just before 1 a.m. Sunday, a man entered the pharmacy in the 3100 block of North Lee Highway, placed the soap into a bag and tried to leave the store without paying, according to police. When confronted by an employee, the man said he had a gun and ran away. He was about 50 years old, 5 feet, 7 inches tall, and 150 pounds.

Burglary

Burglars didn’t take a kitchen sink, but someone did steal a kitchen island counter and bathroom cabinet from a home construction site. The incident occurred sometime on Nov. 7 or Nov. 8 in the 1700 block of North Culpeper Street, police reported.

Burglary 

Electronics and other item were stolen sometime between 1 and 3:20 p.m. on Nov. 14 from a home on the 5500 block of North 19th Street. Two men who appeared to be in their late teens were seen fleeing the seen, according to police. One was stocky, wore a black helmet and left on a mo-ped. The second man ran away.

Burglary

Golf clubs were reported stolen from a storage unit that was broken into sometime between Oct. 15 and Nov. 15 in the 1400 block of North Taft Street.

In a separate incident, golf clubs also were reported stolen from a storage unit in the 1400 block of North Taft Street sometime between Aug. 15 and Nov. 19.

A washing machine was taken from a home under construction sometime between 9:30 p.m. on Nov. 14 and 8:45 a.m. on Nov. 15, according to police. The home is in the 6000 block of North 28th Street.

Cash, jewelry and other electronics were taken sometime between 9:30 and 11 a.m. on Nov. 19 from a home in the 3800 block of North 36th Road, according to police.

A DVD player was stolen sometime between 7:20 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. on Nov. 20 from a home in the 900 block of North Stafford Street, according to police.

An iPad and cell phone were stolen sometime between 1:30 and 3 p.m. Saturday from a home in the 1500 block of North Wakefield Street, according to police.

Electronics were stolen sometime between Thanksgiving Day and Saturday from a home in the 5000 block of North 19th Street, according to police.

Burglary

Electronics, laptops and credit cards were reported stolen from a home in the 3000 block of North 4th Street, according to police. The items were taken between midnight and 6:45 a.m. Monday.
