Karl said he had not heard any reports of anyone else being in the apartment before or during the fire. He said he believed it was contained to a single apartment.

The Fire Marshal's Office is working with police on this matter.

Investigators aren't ready or able to say this death was related to Hurricane Sandy, Karl said.
