Neighbors: Hopkins Shooter Quiet, 'Decent Guy'

Shocking news for a 'friendly block'

Paul Warren Pardus, of the 2100 block of South Kenmore Street in the Shirlington section of Arlington, has been confirmed as the gunman who killed himself and his mother after shooting a surgeon at Johns Hopkins Hospital.

Pardus's next-door neighbor, Teresa Green, described him as a decent man, devoted to taking care of his mother.

"He practically lived out of the hospital with his mom," Green said Thursday. "We'd see them coming out of their car and he'd tell me how she was doing. ... This is a mind blower. We could never see that coming."

Ronald Day, who lives down the street, said Pardus and his mother stood out as a quiet household on a friendly block.

"We were just stunned because we just saw that on the news And I would never think that, that he would do something like this," Day said. "This is a nice neighborhood."
