A Fairfax man is standing trial this week in connection with a hit-and-run collision that left one woman nearly dead.
Police say John Christopher Reynolds just after midnight on Dec. 30, 2010, in the 4200 block of Fairfax Drive.
Reynolds was and charged with a felony hit-and-run and DWI maiming, also a felony. He was 24 at the time of his arrest and resided in Fairfax.
Opening arguments began in Arlington County Circuit Court on Monday.
Up to 30 witnesses could be called in the jury trial, Commonwealth's Attorney Theo Stamos said.
One piece of evidence that may be considered is a distraught 911 phone call placed by the victim's friend, Stamos said.
If convicted, Reynolds could face up to five years in prison for the maiming charge and up to 10 years for the hit-and-run charge.
