Update: Police Charge Arlington Man With Attempted Rape

Arlington County police say the incident happened Friday morning in an office near Columbia Pike.

A 31-year-old Arlington man has been accused of attempting to rape a woman in her office near Columbia Pike.

Michael McKeever has been arrested and charged with attempted rape and abduction with intent to defile. He is being held without bond, according to the Arlington County Police Department.

Investigators believe McKeever entered the office of a female employee in the 900 block of South Monroe Street shortly after 10 a.m. Friday and then assaulted her and attempted to rape her.

"There was a struggle," police spokesman Dustin Sternbeck told Patch. "The entire thing was captured on surveillance video."

The woman was able to fight the man off and escape the office, according to information police released Monday.

Investigators found McKeever a short time later at his home. Police do not believe he knew the woman before the alleged attack, Sternbeck said.

"He frequently picks up work from one of the neighboring businesses," Sternbeck said.

The woman sustained minor injuries to her hand.

The 900 block of South Monroe Street is not far from where Columbia Pike intersects Glebe Road.
