Police: Girl 'Inappropriately Touched' on Yorktown High School Track

Investigators say suspect is known to frequent the area.

A young woman was groped Wednesday night while running on the Yorktown High School track, according to information the Arlington County Police Department released today.

At about 7:45 p.m. Wednesday, the woman — police will only describe her as a juvenile — was running on the school's track with her mother.

A man, described as 40 years old with a muscular build, inappropriately touched the girl as she was running, according to police.

The man has been known to frequent the area, police spokesman Dustin Sternbeck said. Police have confirmed the man was not a school employee.

At the time, the man was wearing a blue muscle shirt and dark shorts, according to police.

"We're not releasing a lot of details on this because it's one way we can tie the individual to the crime," Sternbeck said. " 'Inappropriately touched' is all we're saying for the moment."

The girl was shaken, but she is OK, Sternbeck said.
