Police: Rash of Tires Slashed in Arlington's Hall's Hill Neighborhood

About 50 tires were found slashed this week.

Several residents in Arlington's Hall's Hill neighborhood awoke this week to find their tires slashed.

Between 7 p.m. Monday and 7 a.m. Tuesday, tires on 36 cars were slashed by an unknown person or group of people, according to information Arlington police released today.

"A crime of this nature doesn't take a lot of time to pull off," police spokesman Dustin Sternbeck told Patch. "And it was more than 36 tires. Each of the vehicles that were struck had either one or two tires slashed."

Sternbeck estimated about 50 tires in all were punctured.

All of the cars were in a two- to three-block radius around the 1800 block of North Dinwiddie Street.

The bandit or bandits targeted vehicles, from sedans to SUVs, that were parked on the street and in driveways. Their owners realized what happened when they attempted to leave Tuesday morning to go to work or take their children to school, Sternbeck said.

Police so far have been able to locate any victims with external cameras as part of a home security system, he said.

The investigation remains ongoing.
