Fairfax County Police will be visiting neighborhoods looking for the suspect in a Fourth of July stabbing attack on a 65-year-old woman while she was watching fireworks in the Falls Church area.

Police have added "slim build" to the description (see below for complete description) released earlier.

Around 10:25 p.m. Friday, the woman was at a shopping center parking lot at 7129 Leesburg Pike, with a group of friends watching fireworks that were being set off from across the street, at George Mason High School.

An unknown male approached the woman from behind and stabbed her in the upper body, according to Fairfax County Police. The suspect fled on foot and a witness gave chase, but lost sight of him.

The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment of her serious but non life-threatening injuries.

The suspect was described as white, possibly 18 to 20 years old, with short blonde hair. He was wearing a white tank top and shorts.

Detectives are hopeful someone in the area may have seen the incident or the suspect and have information.
