Police Seek Help ID'ing Burglar Who Took Money From Charity

Man broke into Dominion Hills Food Mart earlier this month, according to Arlington police.

The Arlington County Police Department is asking for the public's help in identifying a man who broke into a community marketpalce earlier this month and took money that had been donated to charity.

Investigators say a man used rocks to break the glass out of the front door and get inside the Dominion Hills Food Mart, 6035 N. Wilson Blvd., in the early morning hours of June 14.

The store was closed and no one was inside, police spokesman Dustin Sternbeck said.

Once inside, the man took cash from a collection jar intended for charity and several packs of Newport cigarettes, according to police.

Sternbeck wasn't sure how much cash was taken or what charity it was intended for.

The burglar is described as having a stocky build and black curly hair. He was wearing a dark blue hooded sweatshirt with "Old Navy 94" on it at the time of the incident.

Police have released four stills from surveillance video (see above).

Investigators are asking anyone with information on the identity or whereabouts of this man to contact Detective James Stone at 703-228-4245 or at jstone@arlingtonva.us. To report information anonymously, contact the Arlington County Crime Solvers at 866-411-8477.
