Police: Teenager Accused of Strangling Young Woman at Marymount University

Victim reported minor injuries, Arlington police say.

A 19-year-old Arlington man has been handed a number of charges following a weekend incident at Marymount University.

Campus security called the Arlington County Police Department at about 1:30 a.m. Saturday regarding an intoxicated man who had assaulted a woman in her dorm, according to information police released Monday.

Kevin Brennan, 19, of Arlington and a 19-year-old woman had been "hanging out" in the woman's dorm in the 4700 block of Old Dominion Drive, police spokesman Dustin Sternbeck told Patch.

The two knew each other, but investigators don't believe they have ever been involved in a romantic relationship, Sternbeck said.

At some point, Brennan, who was "extremely intoxicated," strangled the woman, Sternbeck said. She reported minor injuries.

Police don't have any indication that an argument preceded the alleged assault, Sternbeck said.

Brennan was charged with strangulation, underage possession of alcohol and drunk in public, according to police.
