Tire Slasher Goes on Prius Rampage in Arlington

Police have reports of 15 incidents from Sunday night and Monday morning.

Someone apparently really doesn't like fuel-efficient vehicles.

Arlington police are investigating a series of tire-slashings that occurred Sunday night into Monday morning across the county, spokesman Dustin Sternbeck told Patch.

Police have reports of tires slashed with a knife on 10 cars in the north end of Arlington County and five more in South Arlington.

In all, 14 of the cars to have their tires slashed were Toyota Prius hybrid cars. The other was a Smart car.

Investigators believe "there's probably a good chance" that all of the acts were committed by the same individual or group or people, Sternbeck said.

None of the cars were broken into or damaged beyond their tires.

Police are asking anyone who might have witnessed the overnight slashings to call the department's non-emergency number: 703-558-2222.
